Getting around
Crans-Montana shuttles
Getting around the resort without a car: the free buses, the funicular, the train at Sierre.
The shuttle network
Free shuttles run inside the resort, between Crans, Montana, Les Barzettes (Violettes gondola) and Aminona. They are operated by SMC, the company that also runs the funicular. In the ski season they link the hotel districts to the gondola bases; the rest of the year the service is reduced. We publish no timetables: they change every season, check them with the operator.
- Crans and Montana
- The link between the two centres along the plateau: shops, hotels, the Ycoor ice rink, the funicular station.
- Montana, Les Barzettes, Aminona
- Eastwards to the Violettes and Aminona gondolas. The Etoile, Violettes, Aminona line (431) is disrupted by roadworks: the connection with the funicular from Aminona is not guaranteed.
- Gondolas
- The shuttles serve the three bases: Crans-Cry d'Er, Les Violettes (towards the Plaine Morte glacier) and Aminona.
Other ways to move
- Funicular
- From Sierre station to the centre of the resort (Crans-Montana gare) in about 13 minutes, mostly every 20 minutes. 3 minutes' walk to the bus on arrival. Free on race days during the 2027 Worlds.
- Regional buses
- The buses between Sierre and Crans-Montana by road (line 12.422 via Mollens) are paid, at Swiss public transport fares. Timetables on SBB.ch.
- Sierre station
- Every SBB mainline stops at Sierre/Siders in the Rhône valley. From the station, follow the red line on the floor: 6 minutes' walk to the funicular.
- Taxis
- Taxis serve the resort and Sierre station. Book ahead in the evening and in high season.
- On foot
- The plateau is flat: Crans and Montana are about twenty minutes apart on foot, along the Route du Rawyl or past the lakes.
